Deene Park

Deene Park is a largely sixteenth-century house incorporating a medieval manor. Built around a courtyard the house has important rooms added during the reign of George III. Deene has belonged to the Brudenell family since 1514 and was the seat of the Earls of Cardigan, of whom the most notable was the 7th Earl who led the charge of the Light Brigade at Balaklava in 1854.

The house today is the home of Robert & Charlotte Brudenell and their son William.

House Tours
As Deene Park is a fully functioning family home, private guided tours are offered between April and September on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10am, last tour 3pm. A tour of the house typically lasts 90 minutes.

Groups can enjoy a private tour of over fifteen rooms often used by family and friends. There is a large collection of art, furniture, and porcelain, together with a display of uniforms and memorabilia of the Crimean War.

Garden Tours
The gardens at Deene are largely to the south and west of the house and feature fine herbaceous borders, a rose garden and a grand parterre designed by the late David Hicks.

The wide variety of flora naturally changes throughout the year, from snowdrops, daffodils and tulips in the spring to roses, iris, clematis, fox-glove, hydrangea and a wide variety of perennial, herbaceous plants and flowering shrubs during the summer months.

Garden tours are available between May and August on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10am, last tour 2pm. A tour of the garden lasts approximately 90 minutes.

Old Kitchen Tearoom
Set in what was the Old Kitchen for the main House, our delightful tearoom is dominated by a wall-to-wall Victorian range, complete with open fire, original stone slabs and spice shelves used by countless cooks of the past.

There are a variety of catering options available for your group, served in the Old Kitchen.
