Iford Manor

These romantic, Grade 1 listed, 2.5-acre historic gardens bewitch those who visit with their unique charm. Set on a steep hillside, rising above a beautiful and unspoilt tranquil valley, Iford Manor Gardens are best known for their inspirational, Italianate garden design, created by famed Edwardian architect and landscape designer Harold Peto, when Iford Manor was his home.

Blending architectural features with the beauty of uncontrolled nature, paths twist and turn around ancient statues, columns, terraces and buildings which, combined with ebullient planting schemes, draw you on in anticipation of the next delight. Steeped in history and located on the last hill of the Cotswolds, with the Wiltshire/ Somerset border running through the garden itself, visitors often say a visit to Iford Manor Gardens is like stepping into another, timeless world.

The cinematic remake of "The Secret Garden" (currently in post-production) was partially filmed at Iford so visitors can tread in the footsteps of Colin Firth. Troy Scott-Smith, presently Head Gardener at Sissinghurst, will take up the Head Gardener position at Iford from July 2019. Groups can visit this unmissable, award-win-ning garden by appointment only during public opening hours or on a private visit, all with a personal welcome and introduction. Tours and refreshments are also available. Please contact info@ifordmanor.co.uk for further details or to book.
